Born and raised in Prince George's County, MD, the son of lifelong educators, Derrick A. Curry is a proud graduate and basketball star of Northwestern High School in Hyattsville, Maryland. He received a full basketball scholarship to attend Pratt Junior College in Pratt, Kansas and later earned an AA in Business Administration/General Studies from Allegany College in Maryland.

With over 21 years of experience working with and mentoring youth in the community, Derrick is a certified specialist in one-on-one therapy, behavior management, mental health counseling, family counseling, and youth counseling.

Derrick has held several prominent positions in the field of mental health and youth support, including Lead Counselor and Program Director at Take Charge Juvenile Diversion, Inc., where he provided counseling and support to hundreds of youth to help keep them out of the juvenile and adult court systems and improve graduation rates. He has also served as a Case Manager/Community Advocate at Green Door, Inc., where he assisted youth and young adults with various mental health issues, and currently as Sr. Clinical Case Manager at Anchor Mental Health, Inc. (Catholic Charities), where he worked with the most severe mental health cases in the DC area.

With a focus on intense one-on-one therapy, counseling, and medication management, Derrick has helped countless individuals improve their mental health and overall well-being, offering support with benefits, social skills, life skills, job training, and court cases.
